Join us for a Discovery Weekend at Landport Bottom!
A free, family-friendly celebration of the wildlife, landscapes and future care of this rare chalk grassland!
The event is free to enter, taking place at Saint Mary’s Church Hall BN7 1QA. No booking required.
Saturday 7 & Sunday 8 March, drop in anytime 10am–4pm.
Presented in collaboration with Lewes Town Council, we will be hosting a weekend of guided walks, hands-on activities and creative experiences inspired by the Downland and the species that live there.
Guided walks will take place at 11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm, offering the chance to explore the history, wildlife and specific points of interest and to learn more about how the site is cared for.
In between, visitors can take part in drop-in activities running throughout the day, including chalk carving and felting, alongside other family-friendly making and discovery sessions.
For those who prefer to explore at their own pace, a self-guided walk will be available to pick up at any time, inviting you to wander the landscape, spot wildlife and discover what makes this place so special. It's an exciting opportunity to find out more about the draft 10-year management plan for Landport Bottom. Displays will explain how the site is managed for wildlife, grazing and public access and how this much-loved chalk grassland will be protected and enjoyed over the coming decade.
Light refreshments will be available, and we recommend wearing suitable footwear and clothing for spending time outdoors. Whether you’re a regular visitor or discovering Landport Bottom for the first time, you’re very welcome to come along, explore and take part.
