Introduction
The Railway Land Local Nature Reserve lies to the south of Cliffe High Street, Lewes, East Sussex. Local people fought for the land in 1987, founded the Railway Land Wildlife Trust in 1988 and have shaped the Reserve's use ever since including the creation of a 'heart' of reeds.
This website brings together 6 core aspects of the Railway Land project to stimulate debate and interest at many levels. To serve these aims, the Trust has launched its most ambitious campaign yet to build a centre for the study of environmental change. See Pavilion latest.
We are grateful to broadcaster, Natasha Kaplinsky, who provided short voiceovers of some of the pages for those without access to text-reading software.
The Railway Land can be reached by walking to the end of Railway Lane from Cliffe Bridge and the Riverside Centre. Pass a pet shop on your left and simply keep walking in a straight line!
