Black Poplar Measurements
In 2004, we were approached by Wakehurst Place to consider planting some rare black poplar trees on the site. Black poplars had been declining for many years throughout Sussex and the former railway allotments, circled in yellow, provided an ideal habitat. 22 male trees and three female trees were donated and are now cared for (and their growth recorded twice a year) by the participants of the 'Nature Corridors for All' project.
